Mini fascinators on parade
Gosh, I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t had a chance to post any photos of what I’ve been up to! Here’s a tidbit to tide you over for a leetle while.
I love love LOVE it when my brides send me photos of their veils and fascinators… especially when they’re way awesomer photographers than I am!!
Here are a couple photos I took of the Ella fascinator and three matching mini Ellas that Tiffany ordered from me for her sister’s destination wedding:

And here are the photos that Tiffany took:

So much better right? Augh! I need someone to teach me how to use a DSLR (and then a couple years to practice)! Or at least teach me some Photoshop.
And can we talk about how cute those mini Ella fascinators are? Seriously adorable. Leave it to the Queen of Kingdom Style-ish to envision the awesomeness that will be three matching mini Ella fascinators for her sister’s bridesmaids’ hair. Great idea, no?
Can’t wait to see them in action on the big day. Enjoy, ladies!
Remember the birdcage veil and fascinator I made for Bee-blogger Marisa? (And yes, that is where the MARISA fascinator got its name.)
She recently went for her pre-wedding hair trial and, being the smart gal she is, brought them along.

Didn’t her stylist do a beautiful job? It’s the perfect combination of sassy and elegant (just like Marisa herself).
This is a great reminder for all you engaged ladies: when you are ordering your veil and fascinators, keep in mind the date of your hair trial.
When you order early, you’ll be able to bring them along with you to the salon so you and your stylist can work together to incorporate them into your wedding day ‘do. Not only will your stylist know what to expect but you’ll feel much more relaxed and prepared. And isn’t that a good feeling?
My girl Jessica of Budget Savvy Bride got married May 2nd!
Jessica wore a white 9″ birdcage veil and the Kasia fascinator by yours truly, Kasia Fink.

Congratulations, doll – you looked absolutely spectacular! Much love and joy to you and Eric.

Drew Barrymore wears birdcage veils
I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve just now been able to glance at the Saturday morning paper (which I loooooove and normally devour in one hour, along with a coffee and breakfast… ideally pancakes).
Lo and behold – Drew’s on the very front of the Globe and Mail from last weekend, wearing a birdcage veil:

She’s one stylish dame, that Drew.
Martha’s talking about fascinators too
I was in a bookstore this weekend and suddenly I looked up and realized I had somehow floated over to the wedding magazine section. How on earth did that happen? Looks like it’s gonna take more than 6 months of marital bliss to cure this addicted gal (oh who am I kidding? I’m never going to get over it).

Martha Stewart has a delicious new Fashion Issue out that I positively inhaled. And in it I was tickled to find that even Martha is talking about fascinators!

Excerpt:
Headpiece designer Maria Elena says, “A delicate fascinator allows a bride to embrace her femininity,” but its look can be surprisingly versatile: It’s especially striking when worn with a sleek updo, and romantic on soft waves — try it with the hair swept to one side and the hairpiece placed on the other. If you’re pairing one with a veil, choose a birdcage style (nose or chin length) made of wide French netting and place the piece on top.
Obviously I love the look of a fascinator with a birdcage veil (what tipped you off?) but I also think a fascinator makes a statement all on its own and looks super chic on brides with short hair, too.
Here’s a link to the article (sadly, sans image of that lovely fascinator).
Sian’s fascinator makes a splash in Mexico
Remember my destination bride Sian who emailed me just one week before her wedding with her “ridiculous fascinator request”? Well she is back from Mexico and happily married, and has sent me a few photos of her fascinator in action.
She writes:
” I just wanted to thank you again for my fascinator – I absolutely loved wearing it on my wedding day. It was the perfect thing to go with my dress. I didn’t even consider wearing a veil once I had tried on the fascinator.”

Doesn’t she look absolutely beautiful? And what scenery!

Hee hee, I love this one of her husband carrying her train. A girl after my own heart!

How fun! I can’t wait to see her pro pics.
I am so thrilled Sian loved her fascinator… but even moreso that she got it on time. I don’t usually take orders so close to the wedding date but what can I say? She was so sweet and I have a soft spot for DW brides since I was one myself. It was actually a close call – there was a shipping mistake and although the post office assured me it would ‘probably’ arrive on time, I didn’t want to take any chances. C’mon, as any bride knows, ‘probably’ just isn’t good enough when it comes to your wedding!! So I sent her a second one by Express Mail just in case, and as you can see, it was a happily ever after moment.
Fascinator Tips by Kasia Fink
1. A fascinator looks fabulous all on its own in a breezy tropical destination.
2. A fascinator can indeed survive a dip in the pool at said breezy tropical destination.
3. It’s best to order your fascinator at least 6 weeks in advance… but if you can’t, some sweet talking goes a long way. <wink>

Fabulous feathers for Marisa
When my fellow bee-blogger Marisa emailed me hoping for a veil, I hadn’t even opened up shop yet as Kasia Fink Veils… nor told anyone about it! She should open a psychic hotline, that one.
In one of her emails, she sent me this amazing photo of a feathery fascinator saying, “I love it, but am hesitant to be THAT feathery. Can you take a look and consider it inspiration?”

For you, Marisa, of course I will!
It took awhile to track down those feathers, and then working with them? Well that was a whole other adventure I hadn’t anticipated.

But it turned out… well… fabulously.

And paired with the 9″ birdcage veil? Hot! My hair’s not exactly veil-worthy in this ponytail but you get the idea.

I must’ve spent at least 30 minutes just voguing at myself in the mirror. The feathers definitely feel superstar-ish!

I can’t wait to see these in action on Marisa’s big day.
Just another rainy spring evening…
Just another evening here in rainy Vancouver… the perfect evening for sitting at home and making fascinators (and listening to Sex in the City reruns in the background!).

A fascinator for DW bride Sian
It’s been only a few days since the launch of Kasia Fink Veils and your response has been overwhelming! Thank you to everyone who sent their love, warm wishes and inquiries. A special thanks to Budget Savvy Bride and Polka Dot Bride who wrote such lovely things about KF Veils on their blogs – I’m blushing! I’m beyond excited to be able to send some good karma back into the wedding world which has been so kind to me.
It’s been an exciting few days here – I’m loving responding to all your questions. But one email I received this week required immediate attention. It was from bride-to-be Sian who is having a destination wedding in Mexico. She emailed me with what she called “a ridiculous request” for a fascinator because… wouldn’t you know? Her wedding is in one week!
As you may know, I got married in the Dominican Republic last year so I have a soft spot in my heart for DW brides. Plus I absolutely adore her spunk. Of course I said I’d whip one up lickety-split for her.

Since she’s having an easy-breezy wedding, Sian opted to forgo the veil. I think wearing this fascinator with its tiny hint of netting will be just the thing to make her feel relaxed and carefree but still bride-y.
Your fascinator’s in the mail, Sian. Happy wedding day!
A veil for the Budget Savvy Bride
If you haven’t heard of the Budget Savvy Bride, you’re missing out. Jessica is a wonderfully warm, hilariously straight-forward and impressively creative Southern gal who’s been blogging about her wedding preparations since May ‘o8.
I followed along her adventures while I was getting ready for my wedding and I guess you could say I felt like I knew her without ever having met her.
So when Jess blogged about wanting a reasonably priced birdcage veil (duh, she’s budget savvy!), of course I jumped at the chance to play a small part in her wedding day by making her one.

And sonofagun, wouldn’t you know? It turned out even more beautiful than the one I made for my own wedding. And I’m so glad.
In the mail she goes…

Doesn’t she look gorgeous?
