Real Brides: Nicole G – caught on tape!

August 21, 2009

Bride: Nicole G
Date: June 20, 2009
Location: Puerto Rico
Fascinator: Ella, by Kasia Fink

That sounds sort of scandalous doesn’t it, “Caught on tape!” I assure you it’s not. I blame my cheesy factor – it goes up when I get excited.

You see, I recently got an email from one of my destination brides, Nicole G, with not only some photos of her gorgeous Puerto Rico wedding… but also a video!

Ah Puerto Rico. Soft waves, pink skies and waving palms… I almost feel like I was right there with her.

Unfortunately I’m unable to embed it but just follow this link to Unique Video Productions and click on the video of Nicole + Ryan to see for yourself.

Here are a couple stills from the video, which shows Nicole’s Ella Fascinator (by yours truly).

Nicole actually ended up with two Ellas after what very nearly became a fascinator disaster!

She received the first one in the middle of an unprecedented heat wave.  When she opened it, she found that it was so hot, the purple tissue paper her fascinator was wrapped in had started to melt and that the petals of her lovely Ella were tinged in purple dye.

Amazingly, she wrote me a calm email thanking me for the package and mentioning the issue just to let me know that maybe I wanted to look into a different tissue paper supplier.

Of course I said, WHAT?!?!? and shipped her out a brand new one immediately – which arrived just in the nick of time before she left for her trip.

Whew…..!

It all turned out fabulously. And bonus: Nicole’s lovely mom got to wear the slightly tinged fascinator in her hair! (It’s not hard to see where this bride gets her pretty from, is it?)

Real Brides: Megan and The Gorgeous Red Glasses

August 12, 2009

Bride: Megan W
Date: June 20, 2009
Location: Massachusets, USA
Veil: Kasia Fink 12″ ivory birdcage
Fascinator: Marisa, by Kasia Fink

Emails and photos from my summer brides have started trickling in and I can’t tell you what an enormous thrill it is to hear from these great gals that their weddings went so wonderfully… and to see Kasia Fink veils and fascinators in action!

I just lovelovelove seeing how the girls pair their veils with their individual dresses and hairstyles and jewelry and… GLASSES.

This post is dedicated to all the adorably anxious bespectacled brides who email me wondering: Is it ok to wear a birdcage veil with glasses?

And the answer is…

YES!!

I mean seriously. Does it get any more sassy than this?

Megan darling, you are simply stunning.  Thank you so much for sending in this photo and being such an inspiration!

In fact, you’re making me wonder if it was a good idea to get laser eye surgery after all. Hrmmmm….

Real Brides: A Style-Ish Affair

August 4, 2009

Every so often, I get a delicious request from a bride who knows she wants to feel fabulous in a fascinator on her wedding day… but also wants to spread that fabulousness around.

Enter Jennifer Style-Ish (at least, that’s how I think of her) – sister of Tiffany of I am Style-Ish. Tiffany and Jared had their own amazing destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica earlier this year and just when I thought I’d recovered from the gorgessity of it all, it was her sister’s turn.

People! Please! GIVE ME TIME TO RECOVER!!

Jennifer and Mark’s wedding was in Mexico and while she wanted an Ella fascinator for bridal self, she and Tiffany (her maid of honor, natch) also envisioned mini-versions for her three maids.

Aqua water, coral dresses, smiles to light up a room… or rather, beach. Does it get any more gorgeous??

Congrats to ALL of you ultra Style-Ish ladies (and your ultra lucky gentlemen).

Brides: Sarah G.

July 7, 2009

Ooh how exciting… this summer’s brides are starting to file in!

Lovely Sarah emailed me back in April crossing her fingers that I’d be able to squeeze in an Ella fascinator for her Houston wedding and it turned out, luck (and time!) was on our side.

Little did I know that my tiny Ella would play a role in such a beautifully detailed and meticulously planned wedding. She (and by ‘she’ I mean Ella) is honored to have been there (as am I… sort of?).

A little black fascinator for a little black dress

June 15, 2009

Mr Fink and I went to a lovely friend’s wedding reception last weekend. I wore a little black dress and just for fun, I made myself a chic little black fascinator to go with.

Who says fascinators are just for brides?

Not I!

Video: How to put on your birdcage veil

June 11, 2009

I always tell people that my brides have got to be the nicest ones out there. When they receive their birdcage veils and fascinators in the mail, most of them email me straight away (which I love) to let me know their package arrived safe and sound and to tell me how excited they are (there are usually lots of exclamation marks involved!).

Lately, a few of those gals have also emailed me asking for tips on how to put on their birdcage veils so they look the same as the pictures on my website.

After trying to explain it via email, I figured the easiest way was to show you!

So ladies with veils, and gals trying to figure out whether it’s a 9″ or a 12″ veil that you want, these vids are for you.

I hope you find these helpful!

Have an idea for other types of videos that you’d like to see? Let me know in the comments.

She’s how the Marisa fascinator got its name and doesn’t she wear it well? What a stunning photo!  Marisa’s fascinator is paired with a white 9″ Kasia Fink birdcage veil.

Congrats, Beauty!

Dream Dress models rock their veils

June 2, 2009

Last Sunday I went to the Dream Dress Auction event in Vancouver and what a fabulous event is was. I’ve never been to a bridal show where you could first see the dresses on models before trying them on yourself and then bidding on them. What a cool concept!

It was great to meet lots of excited brides and chat with them about their weddings. It made me want to get married all over again.

IMG_0930

Of course for me, the most exciting bit was seeing the models in my veils and fascinators! You go, girls!

The girls were all so fabulous to begin with but it was truly amazing to see how their personalities got just a little bit sassier when they were wearing birdcage veils.

Obviously I am not the world’s best photographer so these pictures don’t do them justice but trust me, there was sass.

To see some gorgeous pictures from the event, including a couple of amazing veil shots, go visit Erin Gilmore Photography right now!

Thank you to all the models who rocked their veils and to the organizers and volunteers who worked so hard to make this fundraiser for The Cinderella Project happen. And if you’re one of the lucky brides who bid and won those dreamy wedding dresses, congrats!
